Dear Pohickians,
I’m so thankful for the way everyone came together to get the job done on a rainy day. Our 80th Fair was a wonderful reminder of what we can accomplish when so many people pitch in and share their time and talents.
Thank you to the Brotherhood of St. Andrews for the food concession, the hours spent shopping, and all the smoking that went into those pork shoulders and other goodies. Thank you to the Pohick Pickers for filling the day with music, and thank you to everyone who helped make the Country Store—and its amazing desserts—a success.
EYC brought plenty of fun with the bounce house, snow cones, and popcorn. On a rainy, cold day, warm funnel cakes were especially welcome! Thank you for the coffee and car show. Thank you to everyone who helped with ticket sales, face painting, pumpkin painting, and the golf carts that kept transporting folks through the rain. A big thank-you to the parking crew for an amazing job, and to everyone who helped make the Turkey Shoot a success—with almost a record number of rounds hurled downrange!
Thank you to the Docent Guild, whose tours of our church seemed almost constant throughout the day, and to Ronald, who gave us a terrific organ recital. Our security team was always roving to help keep everyone safe, and our sexton did so much behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly.
And when it was time to clean up, the first stage happened in no time because everyone helped. That generous spirit is what I’m most thankful for.
Thank you all for the hard work, good humor, and care you brought to the day. I’m grateful to be part of this parish community.
With heartfelt thanks,
Rick Church
