DESCRIPTION:\nThroughout the colonial period\, religion played an important
role in the lives of the American colonists. Scriptural themes such as di
vine providence\, freedom in Christ\, and equality under God directly infl
uenced the foundational principles of the United States of America. From t
he founding of Jamestown in 1607 to the signing of the Treaty of Paris in
1783\, there were numerous clergymen who through their preaching and teach
ing shaped the cultural\, theological\, and political mindset of the Ameri
can people. Whether it be the revivalists of the Great Awakening or the pa
triot parsons who delivered revolutionary sermons\, the unique religious l
andscape in America set the stage for a new and independent country that w
ould become one nation under God. Join us Wednesdays in July at 7:00pm at
the historic church of George Washington and George Mason as we hear a sel
