Women of Pohick Church

The Women of the Church are separated into two different guilds.

The daytime group is known as the Ann Mason Guild and meets at 9:30 a.m the second Tuesday of the month.

The evening group is known as the Martha Guild and meets at 7:30 p.m the first Wednesday of the month.

Both groups take time off in January and during the summer months. The guilds offer fellowship, fun, and an opportunity to reach out a helping hand into our parish, community, and missions here and abroad. The two guilds come together for major fund-raisers during the year. The main one is the Christmas Mart but you will also find them at the Pohick Country Fair selling their crafts, jams, jellies, gourmet vinegars, cookbooks, note cards, counted cross stitch kits, and Christmas cards. The money from these endeavors are directed to charities in and out of the country, wherever needed within Pohick Church, and to our clergy discretionary funds.

Special outings are also planned such as the Tour and Tea at the Washington National Cathedral.

These two guilds are part of the Women of the Church (also known as the Episcopal Church Women or ECW). We are part of Region VI, the Diocese of Virginia, and Province III. There is a Region VI ECW Newsletter, keeping us informed on what is happening with our parish neighbors. We take part in the annual Diocesan meetings and several women, past and present, have been on the Executive Board.

The Women of Pohick Church are an active and diverse group. Our members vary from mothers of young children to women from The Fairfax Retirement Community across the street. They are hearers and doers and without exception carry through our motto "Joy in Service."
