Senior Warden's Report
November Vestry Meeting: • Effort to solicit candidates for upcoming Vestry elections is proceeding with 12 confirmed candidates for six positions. • Rev. Binder gave an update on the search effort for a priest associate. Initial interviews have been conducted with six applicants. Rev. Binder and the Search Committee (Tom Mayberry, Neil Sunderland, Greg Wise, Robin Teale, Bill Steward, and Anne Poad) will be interviewing the top three candidates. • Two committee chairs will lead the work on Phases 1A/B of the growth plan. Wayne McHargue will lead the capital campaign. Jeff Parker will head up the renovation committee. • Wayne Biggs, Junior Warden, indicated that although favorable, response sheets to the Building Committee have been sparse. Wayne and Susan Pehrsson are working with Hughes Associates on ways to move forward with the fire detection and suppression system. Wayne also provided an update on last month’s fall cleanup: the kitchen was cleaned; new panels were installed in the men’s room; lots of painting was completed; three tons of gravel was replaced in nursery area; a great deal of gardening around the perimeter was accomplished, the pew plaques were polished; cemetery work was accomplished, and a rainwater diversion project was completed in the parking area. • Edwardene Pitcock, Stewardship, provided an update on the Stewardship Campaign. There are presently 101 pledges versus 144 pledges at the same time last year. This year’s total pledge amount is $321,591 compared with $358,701 for the same point last year. Average pledges are higher with $3,148 compared to $2,491 last year. • John Pasour, Treasurer, reported that plate and pledge income for November was slightly below the historic average for the month. For the year, there is a year-to-date shortfall of $13,300. Expenses continue to be within budget. Parish Life expenses are running a bit below budget. Property expenses are on track. The net proceeds for the Country Fair were about $16,400. The assumption in the budget is that net proceeds of $15,000 will be transferred to the Operating Fund. • Tom Mayberry, Senior Warden, provided an update on work underway by the Planning and Policy Commission. The investigation continues into options to incorporate the Church. The next meeting will be committed to developing a number of options for Pohick. • Joe Moran, Communications, indicated that his sign program would be ready for the general meeting.
