Community Participation: Member of Springfield, Alexandria, Mt. Vernon Lee Chamber of Commerces, Business Leadership Council Member - Campagna Center, Vice President of Alumni, Strayer University, Alumni Volunteer, University of Richmond.
Personal Ministry: Pohick Church can best maximize its mission through a dedicated Vestry. My personal ministry is to assist with the continual historic preservation and the progression of the strategic plan of the Church.

Jan Hoffeins
Occupation: Deputy Director HR Automated Systems Regionalization & Systems Modernization Division DoD Civilian Personnel Management Service
Current/Previous Church Committees and Related Activities: Pohick Church: Teller, Usher, Apple Butter, Country Fair. Church of the Nativity, Huntsville, AL: Stewardship Committee, Youth Group Leader, Christian Education Committee, Usher, Visiting of elderly in area nursing homes.
Community Participation: None currently. Formerly very actively involved with Boy Scouts and PTSA.
Personal Ministry: I feel my personal ministry is to use my talents to serve God and the community of Pohick in two ways. First, I want to make newcomers feel as welcome at Pohick as the congregation made me feel when I first arrived at Pohick several years ago. There is a warmth to this congregation that I have not experienced at other churches and I want to be a part of passing that along to others. Secondly, I feel I can be of service at Pohick using the management and leadership skills that I use daily in my profession.

Neil Hogg
Occupation: Deputy Director, Department of the Navy, Office of Budget, Program/Budget Coordination Division.
Current/Previous Church Committees and Related Activities: Sunday School Teacher for five of the last six year, the last three years as one of the Preschool teachers, before that I taught the 6th graders. Treasurer for the Brotherhood of St. Andrew, 1995-1997. St. Paul’s By The Sea Episcopal Church in Jacksonville Beach, Florida: Vestry Member (1990-1991 and 1997-1999). School Board Member for their Day School (1990-1991), acolyte director 1988-1991.
Community Participation: Coach for SYC Soccer, Boys under 8, and Girls under 6. Volunteer Official supporting the Navy Federal Credit Union Board of Directors, and member of the Personnel Policies Committee.
Personal Ministry: Service to our youth is probably the strongest part of my personal ministry. My upbringing in the Episcopal Church here in the US, and the Anglican Church in Scotland, combined with my years spent in different parishes (because of my time in the Navy) has hopefully given me a broad and diversified view on the many aspects of the Church and will help me assist in the growth and development of our youth.

Joseph Edward Moran, Jr.
Occupation: Fisheries Biologist, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.
Current/Previous Church Committees and Related Activities: St. James Episcopal Church, James Island, SC: Vestry (1998-1999). Pohick Church: Member, Pohick Pickers, Co-EYC Dinner Coordinator (with Susan!), served in Connie Eppley’s Vestry Position (Oct-Dec 2005).
Community Participation: Assistant Scoutmaster, Troop 1853 BSA, Springfield, VA.
Personal Ministry: To offer my music and my time to help deliver the church’s mission to its parishioners and the community.

Richard (Rick) Nelson
Occupation: Analyst, US Army Review Boards Agency.
Current and Previous Church Committees and Related Activities: Currently LEM Coordinator, Greeters, Usher, Fair committee. Previously Brotherhood of St. Andrew, Foyers Participant.
Personal Ministry: Simply to help stimulate growth of the parish and in particular reach out to new members to insure continued expansion in years to come.

Susan Lynn Rose Pehrsson
Occupation: Research Chemist, Section Head at Naval Research Lab
Current/Previous Church Committees and Related Activities: Teaching Sunday School, Children’s Chapel, EYC Advisor, Rector’s Group, Guild of the Christ Child.
Community Participation: PTA, LBSS PTSA Board, Science Advisory Committee for FCPS, Chemistry Textbook Selection Committee FCPS, Girl Scout Leader 1992 - present.
Personal Ministry: I am interested in children’s programs. I have been involved in teaching or leading children since 1988. The Youth Group was an important part of my youth and I have worked to make the same opportunity for the current youth at Pohick.

Edwardene Pola Pitcock
Occupation: Accountant
Current/Previous Church Committees and Related Activities: Altar Guild, Ann Mason Guild, Martha Guild, Teller, Stewardship Committee, Christmas Mart Co-Chair, Usher, Apple Butter, Country Fair Committee Chair.
Community Participation: Gunston Elementary School Tutor, Fairfax County Library.
Personal Ministry: I believe that Pohick Church has a unique opportunity to reach out to our new neighbors as the communities around us expand. I would like to help spread the word of our Pohick family so others can enjoy the wonderful Christian fellowship of our church. Pohick has given so much to me that I would enjoy an opportunity to give something back.

Jennifer Sassin
Occupation: Technical Writer
Current/Previous Church Committees and Related Activities: Currently at Pohick: Community of Hope, Newcomers, EFM. Previously at Houston churches: Community of Hope, Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher, Wedding Guild, Social Life, Vestry.
Community Participation: Pohick: Apple Butter, Country Fair, Church Clean-up Day. Other: TWIG (Women’s Auxiliary for Inova Alexandria Hospital), GWTA (Greater Washington Tennis Association) Board, Women’s Group (Fellow Episcopalian Women from several local churches).
Personal Ministry: To be fully engaged in the life of the church by continuing, with God’s grace, in the areas of pastoral care, outreach, community/social life, and however I may be called to be a contributing member of the parish.

Robin Kay Teale
Occupation: Senior Business Analyst.
Current/Previous Church Committees and Related Activities: Member of Vestry and Registrar - one year; Children’s Chapel - three years; Sunday School - seven years; Altar Guild - one and a half years.
Community Participation: Alexandria Knolls West Condominium Associated Handbook Committee; Habitat for Humanity; Christmas/Holiday Adopt-a-Family program (Fannie Mae Foundation).
Personal Ministry: I believe that my personal ministry is to participate in the life of our parish and assist in the management of our resources. In addition, I receive so much from my involvement with the Education Ministry and the preschool class and would like to give back a small part of what I receive.

Mike Zane
Occupation: Automobile Parts Delivery Person
Current/Previous Church Committees and Related Activities: Past commitment has been sitting on the Finance Committee for five years. I also served on the Strategic Planning Committee for a year. Being Acolyte Warden for five years. Vice Fair Chairperson for the 2005 Pohick Fair. Helping make apple butter for 10 years and working on Fair setup. Being an usher for 10 years. Working on the homeless Christmas party for 6 years.
Community Participation: For the past five years, a tutor for the Gunston Tutoring Program. A board member of Operation Friends.
Personal Ministry: To volunteer my talents in any way which will make our parish better to meet the needs of the community. Try to improve the life of those who are less fortunate. To pass wisdom along so others don’t make my mistakes.
