Junior Warden's Report

An owner of a restaurant once said, there are two ways to look at brass: 1) When brass is polished, it shines and attracts customers, and 2) Brass is a hassle. It has to be cleaned, so why have it? Once again, Fall Cleanup Day was very successful, and it is a blessing to have so many volunteers to accomplish needed tasks.  The brass has been polished.

Much credit goes to Anita Stribling and Jeff Parker for needed improvement in the lower parking area. Anita was able to obtain the paving gravel free of charge, and Jeff was able to obtain labor at a very reasonable cost. Job well done!

As mentioned in the October issue of the Pohick Post, the Capital Budget for the year is essentially depleted. This is due to several unexpected costs, including replacement of steam pipes and two separate HVAC units. As the Church buildings continue to age, it will be necessary to plan for replacement of items such as HVAC units, the roof, and appliances along with renovation and repair. The Parish House renovations committee concentrates on the Common Room and Annex. Plans supported by contributions are required, and should be considered with 2009 pledges.
