EYC NEWS The EYC year is in full swing, and there has been a great turnout for the last few months. It is exciting to see new faces among the three groups and new friendships being made. The first weekend in November the Junior and Senior High will be going on their annual fall retreat. The guys will be retreating to the Northern Neck to stay at the Binder’s home. The girls are headed to West Virginia to stay at the Crump’s cabin. The retreats provide a chance to get away and relax with friends. Each day, there is a focus on faith, friends, and fellowship. The weekend should be a good time. Plans are underway for next summer’s mission trip to Hoosick Falls, NY. There are already 25 teens signed up for the trip. This is an amazing number so early in the process. Each teen is responsible for paying their “way.” To help raise the money, teens are once again offering their services to the congregation. Please keep them in mind as the leaves begin to fall…they are expert leaf rakers and would love to help rake leaves or to tackle any other yard work that may be needed. They are also available to help with spreading mulch, minor painting or other home projects. If interested, please contact Jen Crump-Strawderman to arrange the labor. There is another important
way to support the youth mission trip - shopping for groceries at
Safeway. Register at Safeway to have charitable contributions based
on purchases (up to 3% of total) made to Pohick Church EYC. Registration
can be done online at www.escrip.com by clicking on the “sign up
now” link. Then enter Pohick Episcopal Church as the group name
or 1045760 as the group ID number to complete the registration. Registering
a credit card is not necessary. These efforts provide significant support
to this important ministry.
