2005 Vestry Nominations SARAH MARIE BOOTH Occupation: Student - 11th Grade. Current/Previous Church Committees & Related Activities: Church School student and EYC member; Participated in two mission trips to help repair homes in 2002 and 2003; Chaired two separate coffee house set-up committees; An active acolyte serving about every five weeks; Active youth choir member; Assist Frances Sessums (DRE) with childcare during staff meetings; I am the weekend sexton. Community Participation: Participated in the STAR tutoring program at Hayfield Secondary; National Honor Society; Volunteered with children and adults who have developmental disabilities through Fairfax County Therapeutic Recreational Services and Mental Retardation Services. Personal Ministry: I want to use my talents and gifts to give back to God and the church. As a vestry member, I would be providing my perspective as a young person on the issues of parish life. I will support the strong programs at Pohick, especially the Christian Education opportunities for all ages. I look forward to working with the Vestry and Clergy to meet our future challenges. Personal Ministry: To do my small part to support the clergy and lay leaders of Pohick as we continue to grow as a vibrant part of the community. Personal Ministry: Given that I have been fairly inactive in recent years, I see this as an opportunity for God to use my skills wherever needed in supporting the programs and people within this wonderful parish. In the first group of girls to become an acolyte at Pohick Church. Community Participation: Alexandria Knolls West Condominium Associated Handbook Committee; Habitat for Humanity; Christmas/Holiday Adopt-a-Family program through the Fannie Mae Foundation. Personal Ministry: I believe that I bring several strengths to the parish. I have a strong business background that requires objectivity and logic. In addition, I have compassion for the youth of our church and have enjoyed working with the children. I have mainly worked with the pre-school and kindergarten classes at Pohick and love reaching out to their inquisitive and seeking minds. As Pohick expands into the twenty-first century, there are many ambitious programs to explore, such as the Parish House expansion, Pohick School, Pohick Adult Center and many others.
