Stewardship “All things come of thee Oh Lord and of Thine own have we given Thee.” This summer at the 8:00 am service, this prayer of thanksgiving was repeated when the offering was presented. What a great way to think about what is received from God, and what is given back to the Church in time, talent and treasure. October not only brings Apple Butter and the Country Fair to Pohick, but also the Stewardship Drive. It is time again to start thinking about the personal meaning of this Church, and how a portion of personal treasure can be attributed to the support of Pohick Church in its continuing mission to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ. Please take special note to the Directed Giving Options on the Pledge Card. This pledge is to be used in the following manner:
Several years ago, to accommodate parishioners who wished to specify how their pledges to Pohick were directed; three choices were provided for those making a pledge. Unrestricted: the pledge is given to Pohick with no restrictions and a set percentage of it will be forwarded to the Diocese of Virginia, which in turn sends a percentage to the National Church. Restricted to Parish and Diocese: funds from pledges are not forwarded through the Diocese of Virginia to the National Church. Restricted to Parish: all of the pledge will be used by Pohick and its outreach programs. Start thinking about this year’s pledge so that upon receipt of the pledge packet, a decision can be made to pledge to God and his Church an appropriate amount. Remember that: “All things come of Thee Oh Lord and of Thine own have we given Thee.” |
