Junior Warden's Report
Thanks to Vestry approval and available funds, new carpet will soon adorn the Parish House. Worn and buckling carpet causes concern for safety. New carpet will both beautify the building, and make it a safer place to walk. Thanks to great minds creating great ideas, a simple solution temporarily took care of a problem. Parishioners and visitors entering by wheelchair or walking encounter uneven stones, causing risk to injury and making entrance difficult. A brainstorming session by Bill Bland, Pete Kind, and Stew Remaly developed a perfect solution. Thanks to the handiwork of Pete Kind, a platform now makes entry easier. Thanks for a job well done! A repaired brick wall greets travelers along Route 1. An automobile badly damaged a section of wall during the summer. Thankfully, the driver survived a horrific accident. All costs have been paid by the driver’s insurance. The completion of two projects will occur within the next few weeks. An extension of the shed will provide more valuable storage space and the Parish House men’s room will have new partitions. The ladies’ room is also being reviewed for needed repairs. Pohick is ready for a final fire inspection the last week of September. Preparations are being made to move forward with research on advanced fire detection and fire suppression systems. Modern technology offers much more effective systems to protect this cherished property. |
