STEWARDSHIP It almost seems like life begins anew for Pohick Church in the Fall. It brings the start of a new year for Sunday School, Gunston Tutoring, and the EFM programs. Everyone looks forward to Apple Butter Weekend and the Country Fair. And, the Ann Mason and Martha Guilds go into overdrive preparing for the upcoming Christmas Mart. Fall also brings Pohick Church's annual Stewardship Campaign, which kicks off this month. During the next few weeks, the congregation will receive a stewardship packet, including pledge cards. As in the past, speakers will address stewardship at all services on October 15 and October 22. October 29 has been designated Stewardship Sunday, and the pledge cards will be collected and blessed. Upon receipt of the pledge cards, prayerfully consider the contribution for the upcoming year. The parishioners look to the Church to help ground faith, to provide for spiritual needs, and to give the congregation a place to enjoy the communion of fellow worshipers. The Church looks to the parishioners to provide the wherewithal to support its mission. This is accomplished through the stewardship pledges. Just like everyone else, Pohick has a budget it needs to meet and its parishioners are the mainstay of that budget. While considering the pledge amount for the upcoming year, consider all the blessings received and all the things to be thankful for. As it says in 1 Peter 4:10 “As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God's varied grace.”
