New Orleans Mission Trip

“Now Father send us out
to do the work you have given us to do…”

This phrase is used in the service regularly to empower the congregation to go forth and do God’s work. Through Outreach, there are many different opportunities. One of those will occur September 9 - 15 when a group from Pohick will be returning to New Orleans for the third adult mission trip since Hurricane Katrina. This time the challenge will be to help rebuild homes that were previously gutted. To join this journey, please contact Susan Homar.

If unable to make the trip, consider making a donation to support the rebuilding effort. Donations should be in the form of a check to Pohick Church, with reference to Katrina Mission on the notation line. Monies collected will be used specifically to help rebuild homes.

A recent article in USA today focused on the work of volunteers and the healing response that residents of New Orleans have experienced. One resident is quoted as saying the volunteers are “angels sent from heaven. We’ll be praying for you guys until we die, and if we go the right place, we’ll go on praying for you.” That response is part of what keeps volunteers coming back.
