Country Fair Volunteers
Plan
and volunteer now for the Pohick Country Fair on Saturday, October 6.
The Fair is a wonderful opportunity for fun, fellowship, education, and
service to the community. It is a great way to practice and pass good
tradition on to the youth by example and participation.
The Fair committees
and sub-committees have been meeting over the months to firm up plans and details.
While the various activity chairs do the principal organization of their activities,
more volunteers are always welcome. No experience is required - training is done
on the spot. There is a special need for an assistant chair for the concessions,
face painters, and other special helpers on Fair day. All are welcome during
Fair setup day on September 22 and Apple Butter weekend - September 29 and 30.
Sign-up sheets
will be available in the Common Room or call Peter Kind or Steve
Harding. The volunteers are key to the Country Fair success!
Pohick Fair Hodge Podge
Donations
can be left in the Common Room. Please be sure everything is clean, has all
the parts, and is in good working order. Let’s separate the books and
clothing from other items. Furniture, household articles, toys, games, tools,
knick-knacks, and coats are in demand. Any shoppers that see an interesting
saleable item prior to the Fair, please contact the Parkers..
The volunteer
sign-up sheet is posted. Remember the best part of the Fair is the camaraderie.
Volunteers are needed prior to the Fair, during the Fair beginning as early
as 6:45 am, and especially after the Fair to pack the unsold items for delivery
elsewhere.
Every man according as he
purposeth in his heart, so let him give;
not grudgingly, or of necessity:
for God loveth a cheerful giver.
Looking For A Few Good Men….Or Women
There is a need for a few interested volunteers to assist with the Turkey
Shoot at the Country Fair. The Fair is being held on Saturday, October
6 with a rain date of October 13. Duties include signing up shooters, posting
targets, and assisting with the firing line. Familiarity with firearms
in general and/or shotguns specifically is desired, but not required. All
necessary training and equipment will be provided. If interested and want
to know more, contact Mo Faber at mo66@cox.net.
Country Fair Needs A Co-Chair For Games
Games are a major event at the Country Fair! To be successful, volunteers
are required for set-up, inventory, game operators, and tear-down.
In addition, new ideas are always welcome to make the day even better.
To volunteer to help plan the games, build new ones,
and/or oversee the game area, please call Ginny Biggs. There
will also be an opportunity to sign-up at the fall Volunteer Fair and in
the Parish Hall.
Blood Drive
The next Blood Drive will be during the Country Fair on October 6.
Flu shots are also coming to Pohick on November 11.
