Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
Greetings
in the name of our Lord!
I want to
begin by thanking you all for the warm welcome I have received here at Pohick.
I very much appreciate all of your help as I settle in as your interim assistant
and I look forward to a wonderful time here as I work most especially with
the youth.
As I have
been settling in I have been learning more and more about the very active and
vibrant youth program here and am excited by all that has been done and by
all the possibilities as we begin our new year.
I have had
several conversations with Jen Crump-Strawderman who has left the position
of Youth minister and whose shoes will be a challenge to fill. She is not leaving
us totally though but taking another step in her journey and will remain as
an advisor working with the Senior High Youth. She has told me how honored
she has been to be a part of this very important ministry. I am most grateful
for all the help she has been to me as I am getting to know Pohick and the
EYC program.
PLEASE MARK
YOUR CALENDARS!
The EYC
will be begin the year with its traditional picnic on Sunday, September 9 from
5:00 to 7:00 pm. Please check the bulletin and your email for more information.
Each family will be asked to bring a food item to the picnic. The evening will
be a chance to have fun, catch up with old friends after the summer, and meet
new friends. Parents, please plan on joining us for the evening as well. Come
meet the EYC advisors and hear about the fun plans for the year.
One of the
most important things we will be discussing is our next mission trip, so please
come with any thoughts you may have. Parents, please pray about helping us
this year as chaperones for the trip and as chaperones for our other events.
It is a wonderful experience to be with the youth and their energy.
And speaking
of email - if you are new to the parish and between 5th and 6th grade, please
send me your name and email so we can send you information about our upcoming
events: Revmom53@gmail.com.
As
these ‘dog days’ of summer slowly come to an end and school
and fall are just around the corner, I pray that you all continue to
have a restful and joy filled summer.
