Iowa Mission Trip
The youth of Pohick went on a mission trip to Savannah. Those who have participated in Mission Trips know that it is a personally rewarding experience. Thanks to Mother Nature, there are many opportunities for Mission efforts.
The Diocese of Iowa is asking for work teams to help muck out houses damaged in the recent floods. They estimate they will need teams through the end of August. Mucking out involves getting the water damaged contents out of the house, searching through those contents for anything salvageable, particularly personal items, as well as removing drywall and insulation. Kathy Kirkland is organizing a group from Pohick to make the trip to Iowa during the week of August 10 to help in this effort. For those interested, contact Kathy at waykirk@verizon.net. Donations to defray the cost of the van and gas are also welcome. Donations can be sent to the Church office marked Iowa Flood Relief.
Additionally, a group is planning to go to New Orleans October 11 through 18 to continue the efforts there. For those interested in the New Orleans trip, please contact Susan Homar at susan.homar@nciainsurance.com.
Pohicks’ Mission Teams in Savannah, Iowa, and the Gulf Region are making a tangible and positive difference in improving the lives of others in the larger community. It is an experience definitely worth the effort.
