Volunteer Opportunities at Gunston Hall

George Mason was a vestryman of Pohick Church and his 18th century home, Gunston Hall, is just a few miles away on Mason Neck. Often referred to as the “Forgotten Founder,” Mason was the author of the Virginia Declaration of Rights, which later became the Bill of Rights, or the first ten amendments to the U.S. Constitution.

The Gunston Hall Docent Association consists of volunteers who give 1 ½ - 2 hour tours to school groups two or three times a month. In addition, there are monthly guest speakers and educational field trips. The two-week training session for docents will be held September 15-26, 2008.
