NEEDLEWORK AT POHICK CHURCH

Pew Seat Cushion #23Purchased by A. Henderson. Title: The Fairfax Arms. Symbolism: The Fairfax Arms, associated with the Henderson family in 1774, is superimposed over the Cross of St. Andrew, the symbol of Scotland. The cross has a fine red line along the blue line, incorporating the red cross of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew. Designed by Rev. C. Neal Goldsborough. Needleworkers: Lori Engle, Lonni Smith-Ness, and Joan Stanford Jeffries. Given by Miss Margaret Williams in memory of her parents, Alfred Harmon Roberts (1886-1948) and Florence Light Roberts (1889-1953). Cushion was begun in1990, and dedicated in 2003.

Pew Seat Cushion #24Historic Pew. Title: Dogwood. Symbolism: Wild flowers of Virginia symbolic of the local people who would have occupied this pew in 1774. Designed by Mary Lee Link Allen. Needleworker: Helen S. Porter. Given by Mary Louise Porter Clementson, Helen Swenson Porter, Esther Fletcher Porter Creamer and Beatrice Porter George in memory of their parents, Captain Carl Washburn Porter and Beatrice McKnight Porter. Cushion was begun in 1987, and dedicated in 1991.

Pew Seat Cushion #25Historic Pew. Title: Dandelion. Symbolism: Wild flowers of Virginia symbolic of the local people who would have occupied this pew in 1774. Designed by Mary Lee Link Allen. Needleworkers: Edith Bartlett and Jean Lear. Given by Mrs. Thomas H. Scott (Elizabeth), in memory of her parents Robert D. Lynd (1887 –1945) and Irma D. Lynd (1890 – 1976). Cushion was begun in 1987, and dedicated in 1990.

Pew Seat Cushion #26Historic Pew. Title: Crocus. Symbolism: Wild flowers of Virginia symbolic of the local people who would have occupied this pew in 1774. Designed by Mary Lee Link Allen. Needleworkers: Donna Flynn, Jean Lear, Joan Stanford Jeffries, and Helen Porter. Given by the Ann Mason Guild and Friends of Jean M. Lear in memory of Jean M. Lear (1928-1991). Cushion was begun in 1987, and dedicated in 1992.

CORRECTION: Pew Seat Cushion #17 - Title: Wells Cathedral Kneeler Design. Given by Elizabeth Scott in honor of children NOT grandchildren. Children were Cheryl Scott Rome, Thomas H. Scott III, and Valerie Ann Scott.
