JUNIOR WARDEN'S REPORT

June 2006

For the Annual Spring Cleanup, the weather cooperated and the rain did not fall. The good weather allowed some real cleanup work to happen. The large number of trash bags staged at the dumpster at the end of the day was astonishing.

There were also some significant indoor efforts – touch up painting, pew box plaque polishing, and window ledge cleaning in the Church. There was a comprehensive kitchen cleanout, painting in the parish house, and some very nice garden plot improvements.

The largest outdoor project was a wholesale cleanout of the triangular patch of bougainvillea along Route 1 in front of the Rectory. This area had been carved out and defined when the new section leading up to the Pohick Road intersection was graded and paved. Not only was this section overrun with undergrowth, but it had caught debris and plain old junk cast off from passing vehicles for decades. It is now much improved in appearance, and this area has real potential.

This was all made possible by selfless donations of the time and talent of fellow parishioners. Thanks to everyone that helped accomplish so much. Job well done. Let’s do it again in the Fall!
