As the school year comes to a close, regular EYC meetings will also be wrapping up as the youth transition into summer break. The last EYC meeting for Junior and Senior High was on May 22, and the EYC End-of-the Year party for all groups was scheduled for Youth Sunday on June 5. The current EYC priority is to prepare for the summer Mission Trip. There will also be some special EYC activities later in the summer.

The Spring Retreat in Baltimore was fantastic, and the superb chaperones were greatly appreciated. Special thanks go to Tony Harriman, Hal Yarwood and Diana Bland. The Christian event Acquire the Fire, which was themed “Keep It Real,” consisted of skits, live music, and worship designed to ignite the Holy Spirit in the hearts of the attending teenagers. Both teens and adults found the weekend very inspiring, and hopefully the excellent worship music can be introduced to the entire EYC and congregation.

In regard to the Mission Trip, the final deadline for all changes to be made to the roster and for using Letter-Writing Campaign money for the second trip payment is June 10. Submit all funds to Mari Lynn Bland or Pat Osisiek in the finance office. Many Mission Trip participants have already successfully made individual contributions. Everyone’s hard work and dedication is appreciated. Money raised after June 10 can still be used for supplies, food, and transportation expenses. So keep up the good work!

Special recognition goes to all the parents of EYC youth and other Pohick parishioners who helped by volunteering time and resources this year. All chaperones, drivers, and Dinner Night helpers should know that the teens benefited from the time donated. Also, thanks to the EYC advisors for a year of selflessness, guidance and love. Jen, Andy, Susan, Jackie, Nicole, and John Frazier brought Christ to the teens with energy and experience. And finally, thanks to the teens for making God a personal life priority, instead of just another extracurricular activity.
