New Hope Housing

New Hope Housing has asked for help with their newest residence, Samaritan House. They are in need of a few televisions - not new, but new enough to connect to cable! Please contact Chris Bramante of New Hope Housing by email, cbramante@newhopehousing.org or by phone 703-799-2293 ext. 22, to donate the televisions.

African Team Ministries

During the coffee hours on May 4 and 11, there will be a wonderful selection of jewelry, musical instruments, statues and other items from African Team Ministries. These items make excellent gifts for Mothers Day and for graduations.

Proceeds from the items sold will benefit a variety of projects with African Team Ministries, including HIV and AIDS education programs, work with orphanages, and nutrition programs, and support for food, blankets and shelters for those displaced by the unrest in Kenya.

Gunston Partners Program

The fourteenth year of sponsoring the Gunston Partners Tutoring Program will soon be completed. This program benefits the students of Gunston Elementary School by providing one-on-one tutoring for the students throughout the school year. During the 2007-2008 school year, there have been over 30 students enrolled in the program.

After 14 years, the original coordinators of the Gunston Partners Program, Diana Rock and Susan Homar, are looking for two new volunteers to take over the coordination of the program. One of the positions is the primary contact with Gunston Elementary School; the other is the liaison with Pohick Church. The format for the program is established and the current coordinators will be happy to help new volunteers transition into the leadership roles for the program. Please contact Susan Homar to learn more about this very worthwhile outreach volunteer activity.
