Pohick Stewardship

What’s The Difference…

…between the Historical Pohick Foundation/Friends of Pohick/Pohick Inc. and the Pohick Church General Endowment Fund/the Endowment? Good question! Both are focused on helping ensure that Pohick is around for generations to come.

Historic Pohick Foundation, Friends of Pohick, Pohick Inc.

Pohick Endowment Fund, Endowment Fund

Purpose

To identify and address areas requiring immediate maintenance (inadequate fire suppression program), and long term demands (100 yr old roof).

To ensure a permanent income to Pohick to support specific Church activities such as Outreach, Christian Education, Youth Programs, etc.

Typical Activities Funded

Recent projects include lightening ground rods and renovating Church doors.

Principle held in perpetuity with 5% of annual interest applied to above activities. Vestry decides amount applied to the activities.

Focus of Funding Sources*

Sources interested in preserving and advancing Pohick’s historical significance, including foundations, and individuals.

Planned gifts, such as gifts of appreciated securities, bequests made in a person’s will, or charitable trusts provided by parishioners.

Management Structure

An incorporated entity that is entirely separate from Pohick Church. However, the Vestry must approve the efforts undertaken.

Managed by Board of Trustees consisting of 5 Parish members. The Board determines investment strategy for the fund’s principal. Each year a new board member is selected to a 5-year term as a current member’s term expires.
