EYC NEWS

May will be a busy month for EYC! The annual Yard Sale will be held on Saturday, May 5 from 7:00 am until 2:00 pm. Proceeds from the sale go toward the 2007 Mission Trip to Hoosick Falls, NY. Yard Sale items can be placed in the Common Room. A pickup service is being offered for any large items that parishioners are unable to bring to the Church.

On May 12, the EYC will be offering a “Parents Night Out” fundraiser for the Mission Trip. Parents are encouraged to drop their children off at Church and teens will babysit for the evening. Babysitting service will be offered from 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm. Infants through age 10 are welcome. Parents should feed their children before bringing them to Church. An evening snack will be provided. Parents are encouraged to bring “bed time” items so that the children will be ready for bed when picked up (that includes night clothes, toothbrush, sleeping bag, and any other items needed). The evening will consist of planned fun activities and crafts. As bedtime draws closer, children will be prepared for bed, and will watch a movie until picked up by a parent. Donations toward the Mission Trip will be appreciated. Please watch the bulletin for more information and to register children.

During the month of May, the EYC will begin preparations for Youth Sunday on June 3. This is the start of Pohick’s summer service schedule. The teens will be leading the service, giving the sermon, and singing songs from the retreats, and mission trip.

Finally, EYC teens and families - mark the calendar for the End of Year Picnic on Sunday, June 10. This promises to be GREAT FUN! Several parents have volunteered to plan a Road Rally for the teens/parents which will end with the picnic. What is a road rally? Think about this: getting clues, working with the teen/parent to decipher the clues, following directions, driving in the car around town, and having a picnic dinner! This is a unique opportunity for families to spend time together and work as a family. What a super family outing, and it is already planned! How often is there a family fun day without the hassle of planning? More information will be available in next month’s Pohick Post as well as the Sunday bulletin.
