STEWARDSHIP: Building Pohick for Time, talent, and treasure. The first two of these three components will be discussed in this article. Frequently when people think of Stewardship they think of the October pledge drive, and the giving of their “treasures” to Pohick. Twice a year, however, there is an opportunity to attend the Activities Fairs, and sign up to offer time and talent to the support of Pohick Church. This year the spring Activities Fair will be held on May 21 at the coffee hour after all three services. For those new to Pohick, this is an excellent time to look at the variety of activities available through different organizations, commissions, and committees. Even long standing members might find something new to contribute their time and talent. The Stewardship Committee will have a table featuring a Skills and Talents Survey. Complete a new survey or update an existing one. Everyone is encouraged to complete a survey if it has not already been completed. The survey has such headings as Artistic Skills, Computer Skills, Craftsman Skills, Fundraising, General Handiwork, Musical, Professional and Miscellaneous Skills. The survey is used by the Clergy and Groups at Pohick to find people that might be able to help with specific activities that do not necessarily fall under the sign-up sheets available at the Activities Fair. Remember Corinthians 1:12:4-6: There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men. ATTENTION to Committee Chairs or Activity Leaders: For those that head an activity, committee, or guild and wish to promote it at the Activities Fair, contact Debbie Halla debbiealbert@hotmail.com. Arrangements for a table must be made by Sunday, May 7.
