SENIOR
WARDEN'S REPORT
The Vestry met on April 12, 2005. Following the Spiritual Welfare of the Cure and Communion, Bill Wrench discussed the purpose of the Pohick Historic Foundation along with its status and plans for raising funds externally to support maintenance of the historical property. Father Binder reported on a memorial service conducted in Pohick’s cemetery. The service com- memorated the 100th anniversary of the death of George Malcom, Fairfax County Deputy Sheriff, who was killed in the line of duty. A farewell for Senior Seminarian John Frazier will be held on May 8, 2005. John will leave Pohick to become Rector of St. Paul’s in the Pines, Fayetteville, NC. The Senior Warden reminded Vestry members to continue work on the Standard Operating Procedures for their area of responsibility, and thanked Bill Bland and John Sessums for the repair work on the west side steps to the church. Junior Warden business included architectural review of the road request on April 14 (it passed), and approval of a $3405 proposal to restore eroded areas and provide appropriate landscaping to avoid future erosion in back of the Rectory. A motion was passed authorizing the Junior Warden in consultation with the Finance Committee to negotiate for fill and construction of the driveway entrance from the Rectory to intersection of Route 1 and Pohick Road. Action items included preparations for Youth Sunday on June 5, Volunteer Breakfast on June 12, and the Bishop’s visit on June 19. Commission discussions included choir for 11:15 services, length of prayer list (we will keep those for whom prayers are requested on the list), the importance of coordinating major expense items through the Commission and Finance Committee before coming to the Vestry for approval, need for personnel manual completion, need for chaperones for EYC visits (contact Sarah Booth or Robin Teale to volunteer), Newcomer’s group, summer preparations for the pictorial directory (Phyllis Pinkard has some volunteers already and is coordinating dates for pictures). Deb Halla accepted a five year term as Trustee for the Pohick Church Endowment Fund.
