Pohick’s celebrated golf tournament was started in May 1990 to pay tribute to a fine and treasured person, Ralph Pinkard, who was well  known for his devotion to Pohick Church. He loved his work, family, Church, and the game of golf. What better tribute could be made in his memory? Phyllis Pinkard, his wife, has set up a memorial fund in his name to carry out various projects needed by the Church that are not in the annual budget.

In 2003, the name of Graham Davis was added in memory of a beloved parishioner who spearheaded this campaign. This fund has helped with many projects, such as the repair or replacement of old lamp posts, upkeep on the picnic area, playgrounds, memorial gardens, and the purchase of a fire alarm system for the Church.

The annual golf tournament usually draws between 60 and 100 golfers and non-golfers. Since the tournament’s inception, more than $16,000 has been collected and distributed. Thanks to all who have contributed to this wonderful  program, especially the Pinkard family and the Brotherhood of St. Andrew at Pohick Church.
