CHRISTIAN EDUCATION

On Palm Sunday, April 1, the 5th - 12th grade students will visit the Fairfax and Westminster to deliver gifts made by the children in the Church School classes. They will meet directly after the 9:00 am service in the Junior and Senior High Trailer. After the visit, there will be a pizza party in classrooms A and B. Students should bring $3.00 and a permission slip. Parents should pick their students up at 12:00 noon.

The Flowering of the Cross and the collection of the Mite boxes will take place during the 9:15 am Easter Sunday Service. Students should bring single stemmed flowers to insert into the Cross. If anyone forgets the Mite box on Easter Sunday, please bring it to Frances Sessums’ office the following Sunday.

Pohick will also sponsor the annual Easter Egg Hunt directly following the 9:15 am Easter Sunday service. The Egg Hunt is for the Nursery age through fourth grade students. Two egg hunts will occur simultaneously. At least one parent must accompany each child during the Egg Hunt. Children should gather in the following rooms directly following the service. The Nursery, Preschoolers, and Kindergarteners will meet with their parent in classroom F. The 1st through 4th grade students will meet with their parent in classrooms C and D. Please be on time so the Egg Hunters can be counted.

Each student participating in the Easter Egg Hunt should bring a dozen filled plastic eggs to the kitchen by Easter morning before the 9:15 am service. There will be a box marked “Easter Eggs.” It is strongly encouraged that eggs be filled with non-candy items.

Plans are already being made for next year’s Church School . This is a very rewarding and important ministry of the Church! There are a lot of volunteer opportunities and some do not involve preparation, but are a lot of fun! Volunteers needed include teachers, doorpersons, aides, snack setup, snack purchasers, and substitutes. Helping in the Church School is a very satisfying and enriching experience. Many of these positions only take a few minutes every other Sunday. Please call Frances Sessums at 703-339-6572 for more information.
