EYC NEWS

Wow, March was much busier than expected for EYC! With the weekly Lenten Program, Mission Trip prep meeting, and Winter Coffee House, the Spring Break hiatus was a welcome opportunity to relax.

The Winter Coffee House was simply spectacular! Congratulations to all the talented youth that performed, and to Kelsey Hodge for her great MC-ing (and rapping). Thanks to the teens’ dedication and the generosity of the audience, almost $800 was raised for the 2005 Mission Trip! The performances seem to just get better and better – the Intergenerational Talent Show in May should be interesting.

The next big event is the Spring Yard Sale on April 16. This is a great chance to do spring cleaning, and help out the EYC in the process. A few parent volunteers are needed to step up on that Friday and Saturday. Last year, this was the biggest EYC fundraising event, so everyone’s help is needed!

Other parent volunteer positions that need to be filled this month: 1) one male chaperone for the Mission Trip, 2) a parent to be the Letter-Writing Campaign coordinator, 3) two male and two female chaperones for the Spring Retreat at the end of April. On another note, parents please make a judgement call when a teen asks to bring skateboards (or other sporting equipment) to any church event. These items are not appropriate inside of the church at any time, and if the youth use them outside, there is no supervision. This can result in injuries, and it takes the teens away from the activities that have been so lovingly prepared for them. Thanks for understanding.
