The Flowering of the Cross and the collection
of Mite Boxes will take place during the 9:15 Easter Sunday service. Students
should bring single stemmed flowers with no leaves attached. This makes
it easier to insert the flowers into the cross. There will also be a cross
for the students to place their mite boxes in. If you should need another
mite box I have some on the table outside my office. If you should forget
your mite box Easter Sunday please bring them the following Sunday.
Following the 9:15 service we will hold Pohick’s annual Easter Egg
Hunt. We will hold two egg hunts occurring simultaneously. We are asking
that at least one parent accompany each child during the hunt. We will
gather in the following rooms directly following the service. Please be
on time so that we will know the number of egg hunters!
The preschoolers and Kindergarten children will meet with their parent
in classroom F
and the 1st through 4th grade children will meet with their parents in
classrooms C and D.
We have quite a number of plastic eggs that need filling. These eggs will
be in boxes in the common room starting March 28th . We are requesting
each family pick up at least a dozen eggs to take home and fill. It is
strongly encouraged that the eggs be filled with non-candy items. Please
return the eggs to the kitchen and place them in the box marked “Easter
Eggs” before the Easter Sunday service. Families may bring their
own eggs if they wish.
The Church School is also participating in the LCAC Food Drive. We have
been asking each of our students to bring in seven cans of food during
the months of March and April. Our goal is to collect 560 cans. If we
can meet this goal, each class will be rewarded with a special “Coffee
Hour” which promises to be fun and delicious! All food items will
be matched by funds from the Feinstein Foundation. This is a wonderful
opportunity to help our neighbors. If your child has forgotten their cans
please have them bring them in all at once if necessary. They should be
taken to their church school class or put outside the DRE’s office
door. Thank you for your help with this! If you have any questions please
call me.
Faithfully,
Frances Sessums
