CHRISTIAN EDUCATION NEWS This year February is a very busy month for the Christian Education program. Confirmation classes start, Lent begins, and the annual Valentine and Bud Vase visit to the Fairfax, Westminster, and homebounds will be held!
February 16 at 6:30 pm will be the first of the Wednesday evening Lenten Programs. During each of the Wednesday evening programs, the Nursery will be available. The preschoolers through fourth graders will be studying prayer and the events of Holy Week. Frances Sessums will be working with these students, and parent volunteers will be needed to assist. Please call Frances at 703-339-6572 to volunteer. The fifth through twelfth grade students will be working with Youth Minister, Mari Lynn Bland. On February 13, Confirmation classes for students 12 years of age or older will begin. The Rev'd Jane will be teaching the youth this year. She will be assisted by Seminarian, John Frazier and Mike Wooten. The classes will be held on Sundays for one hour starting at 5:00 pm. For the students who attend EYC, a light supper will be served between Confirmation classes and EYC. A brief parent meeting will be held during the February 13 class to discuss the schedule, and areas needing volunteers. Parents please plan to attend. On Sunday, February 13, the fifth through twelfth grade students will visit the Fairfax, the Westminster, and homebounds to deliver Valentines and Bud Vases. These items may be purchased during coffee hour. The cost of $ 6.00 includes a Valentines card and a beautiful bud vase. Vases can be purchased for a specific person or for a Fairfax resident to be designated later. For the fifth straight year, Kelley Perconti has volunteered to make the vases. Thanks, Kelley for doing such a beautiful job! The Sunday school curriculum continues with Godly Play and Living the Good news. Copies of the program are available in Frances Sessum's office. To review the curriculum or to ask questions regarding the program, please contact Frances Sessums.
