Christian Education News

Pohick’s Christmas Pageant was a great success once again this year. Even though it was postponed a week due to bad weather, our students did an outstanding job. I would like to thank everyone who helped to make this a wonderful production. I would especially like to thank Rusty Booth for doing a terrific job of directing the pageant again this year. Jim From did a great job as assistant director. Thank you to our church school teachers who were very helpful, patient, and accommodating during the weeks of rehearsals.

On Sunday, February 8th the 5th through 12th grade students will visit the Fairfax and the Westminster to deliver Valentine Bud vases. The bud vases may be purchased during the coffee hours. The cost is $ 6.00 which includes a Valentines card and a beautiful bud vase. You can either buy a vase for a specific person or one for someone at the Fairfax which we will designate. Kelley Perconti has volunteered, once again to make the vases. She has done these for us the past four years and does an outstanding job. Thank you Kelley!

Confirmation classes for our youth who are 12 years of age or older will begin in February. Father Don will be teaching our youth this year. The classes will be held on Sundays between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. For the students who attend E.Y.C., which starts at 6:30 p.m., there will be a light supper served during the half hour time between classes. There will be a brief parent meeting held during the first class to discuss the schedule and areas where we need volunteers.

During the month of February the preschoolers through fourth grade students will continue with their Godly Play studies. At this time they are studying the Parable Curriculum. The following is the schedule for the month: Feb. 1st – The Great Pearl, Feb 8th - The Sower, Feb 15th - The Leaven, Feb. 22nd - The Mustard Seed, Feb 29th - The Prodigal Son. The 5th through 12th grade students continue to study The Living the Good news Curriculum which is a study of the weekly lectionary. If anyone would like to review the curriculum or has any questions regarding the curriculum, please come to my office on any Sunday and I will be happy to talk with you. My office is in the hallway where classrooms A, B, C, and D are.

If anyone has questions regarding any of these events please call me.

Faithfully,
Frances Sessums
