Parish Nurse Corner

Life Line Screening will be coming to Pohick Church in early April. Ultrasound screenings for stroke, abdominal aneurysms and peripheral arterial disease, and osteoporosis screening will be performed for both men and women.

Life Line Screening is the nation's leading provider of health screenings, and has been saving lives through preventive screenings since 1993. Their mission is to make people aware of potentially serious conditions that are difficult to detect in routine check-ups.

The screenings focus on people 40 years of age and over who are currently without symptoms for these conditions. Since the lack of symptoms makes it difficult for doctors to order these types of tests and have insurance pay for them. This is an opportunity for individuals to receive these high quality screenings at a reasonable price.

These fast, painless, and low cost tests use Doppler ultrasound technology and are conducted by experienced sonographers. A board certified physician reviews the results of each test. Individuals whose screening suggests further evaluation are encouraged to seek appropriate follow-up care with their own physician .

Participation in this preventative program is well worth the time. Problems can be detected early and taken care of before becoming more serious. Each non-invasive, completely painless screening takes approximately 10 minutes, and is offered for only $45 ($35 for osteoporosis screening). Discount packages available. Call 1-800-324-1851 for more information.
