Martha Guild News The Martha Guild extends an invitation to all Women of the Church to participate in the efforts to serve the Church and its community. The meetings are normally held on the first Wednesday of the month in the Common Room Annex beginning at 7:30 pm . Watch for announcements and updates in the Pohick Post or in the Sunday bulletins. Members of the Martha Guild participate in the various Church activities. Many projects and activities are planned for the new year - a guest speaker, seminarian Helen McKee, who will talk about the journey that has led her to Pohick, a “Tea” at a seniors nursing home, and a “Happy Hats” workshop. Happy Hats are made from bright, colorful material, and are designed for children suffering from hair loss due to chemotherapy or other life threatening diseases or burns. Occasional nights out to dinner are also scheduled. As an outreach to the community, the Martha Guild has “adopted” a family through LCAC. Along with financial assistance for a single Mom with five children, the family is also provided with emotional support and encouragement as they strive to maintain their family unit. The Martha Guild provides financial support to the Church and other needs in the surrounding community. The primary income source is the annual Christmas Mart, which is a joint effort with the Ann Mason Guild and the Women of the Church. Along with providing assistance with the Mart from “set up to clean up”, members of the Guild prepare for the Mart by making crafts, preparing food items for the Baked Goods kiosk and the Frozen Casserole booth, and organizing canned goods for the Pantry Shelf. Although membership has grown over
the last year, all interested parishioners are encouraged to attend
meetings and join the fun activities sponsored by the Guild. Be part
of the fun and fellowship of the group, as well as serving Pohick
and the community. For more information or questions, please contact
Connie Myers.
