December 2005 Welcome to the Pohick Post Online! Advent has arrived, and with it all the special touches that make the movement towards Christmas so special. Start off your season in a more meditative manner by setting aside two hours to be at our Advent Quiet Morning, Saturday, December 3, 10 am to Noon in the church. There will be devotions, reflections upon the characters of Advent, and time to be prayerfully quiet. The first Sunday in December is always our Annual Parish Meeting, held at 10:15 in the Common Room. Please look over the Slate of Nominees who will be running for six open vestry positions. All Adult Communicants in Good Standing (age 16+) registered in the parish are eligible to vote, but must do so in person. In our monthly columns, the Rector announces a successful conclusion to the search for a new Minister of Music. Susan Homar outlines several ways for parishioners to help the holidays be happier for needy families, while Frances Sessums writes about the upcoming Christmas Pageant. As we approach Christmastide, please note also the service times for Christmas Eve (6 pm, 10:30 & 11 pm), Christmas Day (10 am) and New Year's Day (8 & 10 am), which are somewhat different this year because they fall over the weekend. Finally, if you haven't yet sent in your pledge card, please prayerfully consider your support of our ministries at Pohick and send it on in. Doing so will help us to budget for the coming year. As always, please send your Pohick Post Articles to Lori Buckius at raebuck@aol.com before the monthly deadline (15th). Pass on any comments or concerns about these pages in an email to Dick Heintze at heintzer@pohick.org or the Rector at dbinder@pohick.org. Monthly Columns
