December 2004 Welcome to the Pohick Post Online! The season of Advent is now upon us. For the next four weeks, gone are the alleluias and the Gloria—at least until they joyously return on Christmas eve! To get into the spirit of the Season, join us this Saturday, Dec. 4, 10 am - noon in the church for an Advent Quiet Morning, "Icons of Advent." Read our Assistant's column for more details. Our annual meeting is the next day, Sunday, Dec. 5 after the 9 am service. We'll vote for the new vestry and hear reports from the clergy, wardens and others. Come and cast your ballots and hear about Pohick's ongoing ministries. Although Advent, we do sneak in two Christmas events early: the Christmas Party for the Homeless on Monday, December 6 at 6 pm, and the Christmas Pageant on Sunday, December 12 at 4 pm. Call the office to volunteer for the first, and come and enjoy our children at the second. Elsewhere in this month's E-Post, our Rector gives first impressions on the Windsor Report, while Randy Brooks sings his swansong as Pohick's Sr. Warden. Vicky gives a refresher on our seasonal music, and the Historic Pohick Church Foundation advertises for a Development Officer. The early Stewardship numbers are in, and while new members are pledging in record numbers, we still haven't heard from 70 of our long-time parishioner families. If that pledge card is still sitting on your counter please mail it in today so the vestry can better prepare next year's budget. We're counting on your support to make next year an incredible year of ministry at Pohick! As always, please send your Pohick Post Articles to Lori Buckius at raebuck@aol.com before the monthly deadline (15th). Pass on any comments or concerns about these pages in an email to Dick Heintze at heintzer@pohick.org or the Rector at dbinder@pohick.org . Monthly Columns
