| November 2007 Welcome to the Pohick Post Online! Although most of the leaves are still on the trees and the midday temperatures seem more like late Summer than mid-Autumn, time moves inexorably towards the end-of-the-year holidays. Thanksgiving, Advent and Christmas will soon be here, and there's lots in this month's Epost to help you get ready! Our Junior Warden and Sexton kick it off with our Fall Clean-up Day this Saturday, Nov 3 (9 am - 2 pm with lunch served). Come on out and lend a hand if you can! The women of the church have long been busy with their Christmas Mart preparations (Nov. 15), and they too have lots of ways for you to help! Later in the month, our Sunday school will begin to rehearse for our Christmas pageant, and they, along with the EYC will also sponsor our Advent Wreath Making workshop and Potluck (Nov. 18). Thanksgiving Day services (9 am) come not long after that, but before you even get there, don't forget to take our Outreach Shopping List with you to help needy families in our community enjoy a great Thanksgiving Day dinner. Elsewhere, our Rector writes about the introduction of a new Sunday lectionary in December that will take many of us back to our Sunday school days. Our Assistant reflects upon her recent trip to Ireland, while our Sr. Warden reports all the latest from the vestry. If you haven't done so already, please remember to support the ongoing work of Pohick Church by mailing in your 2008 pledge card! Likewise, check out the "Building for a New Generation" page, with streaming video of the presentation, as well as conceptual plans, cost estimates, and a parish response sheet.
