October 2009 Welcome to the Pohick Post Online! October has arrived, and you know what that means: Fair Day is nearly here! Come on out and bring the neighbors along between 10 am and 4 pm on October 3 for a wonderful day of good food, good music and lots of wholesome family fun! Oh, and did we mention Apple Butter? Don't forget to pick up a case to last you the whole year! The next day (Oct 4), we'll have Oscar Well's Book Table all morning long in the Annex, and Blessing of the Animals at 4 pm at the outside altar. The Alpha Course will continue on Tuesday nights, while the Rector's Class, Dealing with a Dysfunctional Church: Paul's First Letter to the Corinthians, will begin during the Sunday School hour on October 11. As an added bonus, Michelle Booth will be offering a class in her home beginning that night, 6:30 - 8 pm, and running six weeks. It's entitled, Achieving Balance in our Lives. In this edition of the Epost, our Rector responds to a recent published evaluation of a Sunday Service at Pohick, while our Assistant writes about Lauren Kessler's book, Finding Life in the Land of Alzheimer's. Elsewhere, our Sr. Warden gives updates on last month's vestry discussions, while our Jr. Warden reports on the Parish House renovations set to start this month. October is also Stewardship month, and you'll find several informative articles about the Sunday offering of our treasure to God, and how your pledge for 2010 will help advance the many ministries of Pohick Church in the coming year. There's also news on our Music and EYC programs, along with feature articles on personal health and happenings in the Anglican Communion. Read about these events and lots, lots more in this month's E-Post! Remember, the main body of the E-Post is now published in Adobe Flash and requires the Flashplayer plugin. Download it here for free if you do not have it installed. You may also download a pdf version. As always, don't forget
