October 2007

Welcome to the Pohick Post Online!

Fair time is here! After all the months of meetings, rehearsals, and preparations, we looking for the 62nd Pohick Fair to be the best one ever! Come on out and enjoy all the good food, games, music and family fun. Better yet, bring a neighbor, and be sure to give them some information on our Pohick faith community on the table by the ticket booth. After all, the Fair does fall under our church's Outreach ministry!

On another front, we're also excited at the unveiling of our building plans. If you weren't able to be at the presentation, please check out the "Building for a New Generation" page, with streaming video of the presentation, as well as conceptual plans, cost estimates, and a parish response sheet. Please take some time to fill out this last item, as the Vestry and the Building Committee want to hear from you!

In this month's E-Post, our Rector previews his Adult education series "Classics of the Christian Journey," along with some advance plans for our All Saints celebration. Speaking of Saints, don't forget our commemoration of St. Francis Day, with our annual Blessing of the Animals on Sunday, Oct. 7 at 4 pm in the outside chapel.

Elsewhere, our Assistant reports on upcoming EYC events, as well as plans for the 2008 Mission Trip to Savannah, Ga. Our Sr. and Jr. Wardens give their monthly vestry round-ups, while our Mission Trip team reports back on their work in New Orleans last month.

October is Stewardship month, so please give prayerful consideration to financially supporting our many ministries at Pohick Church in 2008 when you receive your pledge materials later this month. Our pledge ingathering will be on Sunday, October 28.

Read about these upcoming events and much, much more in this month's Epost!

Finally, note that our Anglican Communion News page has been updated with links to the most recent documents from the House of Bishops, our Virginia Bishops, and the Anglican Communion. Continue to keep our larger church in your prayers.

Don't forget to send your Pohick Post Articles to Lori Buckius at raebuck@aol.com before the monthly deadline (15th). Pass on any comments or concerns about these pages in an email to Dick Heintze at heintzer@pohick.org or the Rector at dbinder@pohick.org.
