October 2005 Welcome to the Pohick Post Online! There's a little nip in the air these past few days, and that can mean only one thing: Fair time is near! Come on out and enjoy the sixtieth annual Pohick Fair this Saturday, October 1 from 10 am to 4 pm. There will be lots of good food, music, family fun—and of course, Apple Butter! We still need some volunteers, especially for later in the day. If you can lend a hand, contact Warren Prados at wprados@comcast.net as soon as possible. Or just show up on fair day and ask someone in charge, "How can I help?" In this month's Post, our Rector discusses the sequel to last year's study of The Purpose Driven Life. Orientation will be on Sunday, Oct. 2 at 10:15 am. He also gives an update on the search for a new Minister of Music. Elsewhere, our Assistant previews this month's Women's Retreat and the process of spiritual discernment. Jane Thurston writes about our upcoming Pledge Drive, while Jennifer Crump-Strawderman unveils EYC plans for the month. Wondering what to do with that case of Apple Butter you just bought? Check out some Apple Butter recipes. And if that isn't enough for you, the Christmas Mart is just around the corner. Read about ways you can help in this month's E-Post Finally, although it didn't make this month's edition, October is the month when Gunston tutoring begins on Tuesday evenings at 7 pm. Email Susan Homar at susan.homar@carefirst.com to find out how you can help with tutoring these wonderful elementary students who come to us each week during the school year. As always, please send your Pohick Post Articles to Lori Buckius at raebuck@aol.com before the monthly deadline (15th). Pass on any comments or concerns about these pages in an email to Dick Heintze at heintzer@pohick.org or the Rector at dbinder@pohick.org. Monthly Columns Features of the Month
