September 2005

Welcome to the Pohick Post Online!

September starts on a somber note, with the human suffering from Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana and Mississippi being almost beyond comprehension. There are so many avenues for donating to the relief effort that we hope parishioners will chose one and give generously.

You can also contribute at the Church, simply making your check out to "Pohick Church" and putting "Hurricane Relief" in the memo section. The monies will be quickly sent on to Episcopal Relief and Development, earmarked for the relief effort already underway. As an administrator of those funds while working as a Rescue Coordinator in the aftermath of Hurricane Andrew, your Rector knows firsthand how much difference those donations can make.

Also, if you have any relatives or friends in the disaster zone, please let the office know right away so that we can find ways to be of help to them during what is sure to be a lengthy recovery period.

September is also when our program year begins. Many of the articles in this month's E-Post highlight these, with several groups and events seeking volunteers. Please consider jumping in and helping out with these ministries, especially if you are new to Pohick, as we welcome and value the gifts and talents you are willing to share.

As always, please send your Pohick Post Articles to Lori Buckius at raebuck@aol.com before the monthly deadline (15th). Pass on any comments or concerns about these pages in an email to Dick Heintze at heintzer@pohick.org or the Rector at dbinder@pohick.org.
