July 2008 Welcome to the Pohick Post Online! With the Fourth of July weekend nearly upon us, many families are beginning to look forward to their vacations. Read this month's Rector's Column for some thoughts about what to do when you come back in from the beach. But before you head out, we still have Vacation Bible School the second week of July (7-11), our EYC Mission Trip to Savannah the third week (12-19), and a quickly arranged Adult Mission Trip to Iowa the fourth week (20-). This last one is still looking for volunteers, if you would like to lend a hand to some flood ravaged families. By now most of you should have received the Rector's letter announcing the calling of the Rev. Lyn Youll Marshall as the new Assistant to the Rector, and the promotion of Rusty Booth to Youth Minister, both effective August 1. Please give them your good wishes them both when you see them. Also, please come out to bid farewell to the Rev. Donna Foughty as we thank her on Sunday, July 27 for her interim ministry with us this past year. Elsewhere, read about Pohick's Prayer Shawl ministry, as well as plans for the Pohick Fair. There are still plenty of items left on the 2008 Wishing Well. We are also accepting donations for our ongoing Outreach Ministries and for the installation of the Sound System in the church, which we hope to have ready by summer's end (read background info here).
