| July 2007 Welcome to the Pohick Post Online! Summer has arrived and school is out. The kids are home and full of energy, looking forward to pool time, vacations and the latest installment of Harry Potter. Cheer them on as some attend Pohick's Vacation Bible School, while others head off to the EYC Summer Mission Trip to Hoosick Falls, New York. As our Rector writes, the mission field will come to us on Sunday, July 1 when we host the Rev. Lauren Stanley, Diocesan Missioner to the Sudan. Come on out that morning and hear her gripping reflections about missionary life in one of the world's most troubled nations. Along similar lines, check-out the plans for our own Adult Mission Trip back to New Orleans in September. The 2007 Wishing Well is up, with lots of "coins" to be cast. Consider adopting one of these unfunded requests that will help the staff in their various ministries. In advance of that, they all say a big "thank-you" to all who contributed to the wonderful new copier that replaced the old cranky one they endured for many years. Elsewhere our Sr. Warden and Junior Warden issue their monthly reports, while our Treasurer reminds everyone to try to keep their pledges current over the summer months. Our Minister of Music writes about the background of our National Anthem, and our Parish Nurse offers suggestions for how to reduce back pain erupting from summer activities. Finally, a great big thank you to all who worked so hard to make the farewell receptions for the Rev. Jane Piver so special, especially Susanne & Paul Leon and Tom & Susan Mayberry at Shrine Mont, and Rebecca & Jim From, Anita Stribling, Susan Pehrsson and Doug Smith back at the church.
