June 2008 Welcome to the Pohick Post Online! The end of the School Year is now upon us, granting us the opportunity to celebrate the ministries that have enriched and enlivened our congregation over the past year. First on the docket is our Sounds of Pohick Concert, held this Saturday, May 31 at 4 pm, with reception following. Come on out and enjoy the joyous strains of all four of our choirs, as well as the Pohick Pickers! The next day (June 1) is Youth Sunday, when our Young People will take a greater role in leading worship at the 10 am service (That is also the first Sunday of our Summer Schedule, with services at 8 & 10 am). We will also be honoring our High School graduates, Sunday school students and Sunday School and EYC staff at that time. Our EYC will also be holding a Bake Sale in support of their July Mission Trip to Savannah. The Vestry will honor all of our volunteers at our annual Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast, Sunday, June 8, 8:45-9:45 am. Pick up your free tickets (for planning purposes) and then come on out and eat your fill! That will also be our EFM Graduation Sunday Bishop Lee will be with us for Confirmation the following Sunday, June 15, when over 30 candidates will be baptized, confirmed, reaffirmed or received at the 10 am service. Did we mention the Pinkard-Davis Golf Tournament, the EYC Car Wash, and Shrine Mont Parish Retreat? Read about them all in the June E-Post! In this month's edition, our Rector reflects upon Celtic Christianity, the theme of this year's Parish Retreat, while our Assistant looks ahead to the summer months. Our Jr. Warden and Sr. Warden issue their reports, while our Parish Nurse discusses the role of Care Givers. The 2008 Wishing Well has been posted online. Please review this year's list and "Cast your Coin" to adopt an item that will help us better exercise our ministries at Pohick. There are also reflections on Stewardship, as well as appeals for our ongoing Outreach Ministries and for the installation of the Sound System in the church (read background info here).
