June 2005 Welcome to the Pohick Post Online! Well, the school year is winding down with summer just around the corner. Enjoy all the end-of-the-year festivities throughout the month at Pohick! For starters, come out this Saturday, June 4 at 4 pm for the Sounds of Pohick Hymn Sing. This will be Vicky Harding's swansong—her last special event as Pohick's Minister of Music. Read further about her announcement, as well as plans to search for her successor in this month's Rector's Column. The next day we go to our Summer Schedule, with services at 8 & 10 am. On that day, we will also celebrate our Young People, their teachers, sponsors and Sunday School staff with Youth Sunday. Take the next day (June 6) off and join us for our Annual Pinkard-Davis Memorial Benefit Golf Tournament. There's still open spots, but hurry! Sign-up by the weekend to assure yourself a place. The Vestry will say "thank-you" to all our devoted volunteers with a special breakfast between the two services the following Sunday, June 12. Then, Bp. Gray will be with us on Father's Day for Baptisms and Confirmations. Finally, our annual Parish Retreat will be over the last weekend of the month at Shrine Mont in western Virginia. Sign-up now for a great time there with fresh air, great food and fellowship, and workshops helping us to be creative with our Christianity.
