May 2009 Welcome to the Pohick Post Online! Easter reverberates throughout May as we continue to open our Sunday services with the Easter acclamation: "Alleluia, Christ is Risen . . . the Lord is Risen indeed, Alleluia!" There is much to rejoice about as we slowly wind down the school year. The month opens with our Spring Clean-up, May 2, 9 am to 2 pm. There's lots to tidy up around the buildings and grounds, so come on out and help for as long as you can stay. Randy Brooks' famous gourmet hotdogs will be served for lunch! Don't forget mom on Mother's Day, May 10. On both that Sunday and Sunday before, we'll have on sale our jewelry and crafts from African Team Ministries, whose proceeds benefit Christian ministry in Africa. Right around the corner in June are the Sounds of Pohick Concert on June 6, Youth Sunday and the Parish Picnic on June 7, and the Pinkard-Davis Memorial Golf Tournament on June 9. Finally, don't forget to sign up for this year's Parish Retreat at Shrine Mont, June 19-21. See this month's Rector's Column for more details.
