May 2005 Welcome to the Pohick Post Online! April showers bring May flowers, and this month's Post brings lots of news about the goings on at Pohick! For starters, the Ann Mason Guild will be hosting its High Tea & Tour on Saturday, May 7 at 2 pm. Then don't forget mom on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 8. We will also be saying farewell to our Sr. Seminarian, John Frazier that morning with a special reception after the 9 am service. Archbishop Nkoyoyo of Uganda will be with us the following Sunday for Pentecost, with baptisms at the second service. Elsewhere, our Rector writes about Commission Priorities for 2005, while our Assistant offers some advice on Durable Medical Power of Attorney. Our Sr. Warden reports on the April vestry meeting, while the Jr. Warden brings us up-to-date on the road construction progress. Thanks to everyone who donated blood at last month's blood drive, which netted 25 units, and to those who braved the wet weather for our Spring Clean-up day. Also, the LCAC food drive is a great success. Keep those canned goods coming, as they will be matched pound for pound through the month of May! More good news: to date we have raised more than $5,400 for the Stephen Garcia Fund. When coupled with donations from Stephen's employer, this now puts the total over the amount needed for his mechanical wheelchair! The balance will be applied towards the purchase of a bed engineered to prevent bedsores. The Garcia family has asked us to convey their gratitude to the entire parish for all the love and support they have received from members of our congregation over these past several months. As always, please send your Pohick Post Articles to Lori Buckius at raebuck@aol.com before the monthly deadline (15th). Pass on any comments or concerns about these pages in an email to Dick Heintze at heintzer@pohick.org or the Rector at dbinder@pohick.org . Monthly Columns
