| April 2007 Welcome to the Pohick Post Online! April begins with Holy Week this year, with Palm Sunday falling on April 1. Read this month's Rector's Column for more details about the services held throughout the week, including the Maundy Thursday liturgy and vigil (7:30 pm), the Great Three Hours of Good Friday (noon to 3 pm), the baptisms of Holy Saturday (4 pm), and the Easter Sunday Flame Walk (4:30 am), Vigil (5:30 am) and Festival Communion services (7:45, 9:15 and 11:15 am)—not to mention the Easter Egg Hunt for the kids (10:30 am)! Elsewhere, our Sr. Warden writes about last month's Vestry Meeting, while our Minister of Music gives some highlights from the life of the great hymn composer Charles Wesley. Our Director of Christian Education says some more about Holy Week and Easter plans for our students, and our Youth Minister issues the first call for donations for our Mission Trip Benefit Yard Sale. Along these lines, don't forget the Food Drive for LCAC, which continues through this month. All donations will be matched by a wealthy benefactor. Just after Easter the Ann Mason Guild will be hosting their annual Chili Cookoff on April 14, so pull out those old recipes and make ready the taste buds! Also, mark your calendar for the 18th Annual Pohick Memorial Golf Tournament, June 4 at noon. Finally, take some time to read through the new links on the Anglican Communion News and Resources page. The media have sensationalized some of the recent interactions between the Primates of the Anglican Communion and the Episcopal Church's House of Bishops, so it is worth reading carefully the actual documents referenced in those news reports. Many in the church are still trying to sort out the implications of these pronouncements, and more clarification is sure to come in the near future. In the meantime, please keep our Communion and our Church in your prayers, as we seek to advance our many ministries here at Pohick. Don't forget to send your Pohick Post Articles to Lori Buckius at raebuck@aol.com before the monthly deadline (15th). Pass on any comments or concerns about these pages in an email to Dick Heintze at heintzer@pohick.org or the Rector at dbinder@pohick.org.
