| February 2008 Welcome to the Pohick Post Online! It's hard to believe, but even though it's not been long since we put away the Christmas decorations, Lent is nearly upon us! This year Ash Wednesday falls on February 6, when we will have our Ash Wednesday services and Imposition of Ashes at 7 am, noon, 4:30 pm and 7:30 pm. Over the five Wednesdays that follow (Feb. 13, 20, 27, March 5 & 12), we will offer our annual series of Lenten Potluck Suppers (6:30 pm), Studies (7:10 pm) and Services (8 pm) as a means of fellowship, study and worship during this forty-day season of special dedication. We'll also begin our Adult Inquirers' Series (Feb. 3, 10:15 am) and Young Peoples' Confirmation Class (Feb. 10, 5-6 pm) during this time. Read about these, as well as about how the date of Easter is set in this month's Rector's Column. Elsewhere, catch up on the recent Vestry Commission appointments, Property improvements, and Sunday school, EYC and Choir news and events. Lent is also a good time to remember the needy, so take a look at LCAC's wish list for their food pantry, which has been especially hard hit recently. Finally, thanks to everyone for their constructive thoughts and comments during our recent building forum. The Vestry will be looking these over and incorporating them as appropriate into the ongoing building project. If you missed out on this session, you can still go to the Building Campaign page on our website and download a reponse form to turn in. Don't forget to send your Pohick Post Articles to Lori Buckius at raebuck@aol.com before the monthly deadline (15th). Pass on any comments or concerns about these pages in an email to Dick Heintze at heintzer@pohick.org or the Rector at dbinder@pohick.org. Monthly Columns
