| February 2007 Welcome to the Pohick Post Online! Diocesan Council has recently concluded, with the big news being the election of The Very Reverend Shannon S. Johnston as Bishop Coadjutor. Fr. Johnston is presently rector of All Saints' Tupelo, Mississipi, where he has served for more than a dozen years. His consecration is scheduled for May 26 at Washington National Cathedral. Following that, he will make one of his first Confirmation visits to Pohick Church on June 17. Find out about this and other Council business, as well as a report on the Vestry discussions with Bp. Jones last month at a Vestry Forum to be held Sunday, February 4 during the Sunday School Hour. Our Sr. Warden's article previews this meeting. Elsewhere, our Rector explains the reason "Truro Parish" appears on our church sign—all in order to give some context for understanding his new role as Dean of Region VI. Our Assistant writes about an upcoming conference on Women's Spirituality, while our Treasurer offers some very good news about how we ended FY 2006! Valentine's Day Bud Vases and Confirmation classes are the topics broached in the DCE's column, while our Youth Minister highlights several upcoming events, including the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper on February 20. Speaking of Shrove Tuesday, that also happens to be the Eve of Ash Wednesday, when we will have services at 7 am, noon, 4:30 and 7:30 pm. Make the start of a Holy Lent by joining in one of these commemorations. Finally, don't be alarmed when you see the temporary doors on the three entrances to the church. Thanks to the bequest of a generous benefactor, our historic Church Doors are currently undergoing restoration. They should be back in place by Holy week. Read about these happenings and much, much more in this month's E-Post! As always, please send your Pohick Post Articles to Lori Buckius at raebuck@aol.com before the monthly deadline (15th). Pass on any comments or concerns about these pages in an email to Dick Heintze at heintzer@pohick.org or the Rector at dbinder@pohick.org. Monthly Columns
