January 2010 Welcome to the Pohick Post Online! The new decade has arrived, with high hopes for the years ahead. Those hopes remain heightened for our church, as we seek to minister to the growing number of new families in our surrounding communities, many of whom are beginning to discover the spiritual vitality of our congregation. Read the Rector's Annual Report for his reflections on how we have responded to the challenges of the past year as we also look ahead into 2010 and beyond. We will be formally welcoming many of our new families at a Reception on Sunday, January 10 at 10:15 am in the Parish House. Come and offer them a hearty Pohick greeting! Elsewhere in this month's EPost: Did you miss the December Vestry elections? Read about these results, as well as vestry officer elections in this month's Sr. Warden's Report. Wonder why the Parish House smells like paint? Read the Jr. Warden's Column to learn about how the renovations to the Common Room and Annex are finally taking off! In other columns, read about this past Fall's Mission Trip to New Orleans, as well as our recent Outreach ministries. Our Parish Nurse likewise gives some valuable information about identifying and preventing strokes. Finally, note from this issue that, because of new onerous postal requirements, we will be seeking to scale back our distribution of the printed Pohick Post in favor of the Internet publication. Stay tuned for more information about receiving the Post in the format(s) that you most prefer. Read about these events and issues and lots, lots more in this month's E-Post! Remember, the main body of the E-Post is now published in Adobe Flash and requires the Flashplayer plugin. Download it here for free if you do not have it installed. You may also download a pdf version. As always, don't forget
to send your
