January 2009 A Happy New Year to everyone! We hope that you and all your loved ones may enjoy bountiful blessings from our Lord in the coming year. In many households, the New Year is a time for making resolutions and organizing ourselves for the months ahead. The same is true at Pohick. On the first two Sundays of this month (Jan 4 & 11) we will revisit our 2004 Strategic Plan, inviting the congregation to offer new ideas for mission and ministry in an updated version. Read more in the Rector's Annual Report, which also reflects upon Christian call to heroism in our present moment. One way to be a hero to some young people is to serve as a tutor in our Gunston Tutoring program (page 5), which will be starting up this month. We're still looking for volunteers; email GunstonPartners@gmail.com if you're able to help. Elsewhere, read about the Vestry elections at the Annual Parish Meeting and December Vestry Meeting (page 3), and reflections by our Assistant on New Year's Resolutions (page 11).
